hundred days – delay

Posted in comics, hundred days, news by tom humberstone on February 12th, 2010

Those of you who follow my comic-a-day will have noticed I haven’t posted anything new since day 70.  Not for want of trying. There are a couple of minor marks made on paper that I had to abandon due to the flu virus thing I’ve had now for about eight days. Having managed to produce work before when feeling ill, this has left me feeling increasingly guilty but the break has been necessary in order to get better.

This doesn’t mean day 70 will be my last comic a day though. A dear friend suggested that I take my time to get better and just start again when I can (they also threatened to hurt me should they see a new comic up here before I’m better). This seems like the best plan rather than attempt to catch up by producing two or three a day. So, hopefully, in the next few days I’ll have comic 71 up here and I’ll just have to finish a few days later than everyone else taking part.

Not ideal, and I hate to see this challenge derailed after such a strong, uninterrupted run – but it really is unavoidable. Thanks for your patience and for everyone’s encouraging comments, twitter messages, and emails.

UPDATE

After over a month of illness and several hospital visits, I’m now finally starting to feel better. It will take another month at least to feel close to 100% but hopefully I’ll manage to restart the 100 days project in the next week – fingers crossed… I have to say, I’ve missed it.

hundred days – day 69

Forgive me for the scrappy comics of late – this flu I have is not all that keen on letting me draw for more than 10 minutes at a time.

hundred days – day 66

I’m feeling really rather ill again (I am a sickly child) so apologies for the slightly rushed one here. I need a lie down. Maybe a peppermint tea…

That makes 66 – two thirds of the way through! Thanks for sticking with it if, indeed, you have. Final America trip themed comic tomorrow.

Ughhhh. I want to curl up somewhere and die.

Chimichanga is a tasty dish. The word continues to tickle my funny bone though. I can’t explain it.

hundred days – day 62

Yesterday I asked for suggestions from my Twitter followers on possible one word themes for my Sunday comic. After spending most of my afternoon with the Flash lesson described above, I felt @botherer’s “Potential” felt the most apt.

I’m rather tempted to, when I’m feeling a little more adventurous and energetic, give some of the others a try too. I must say, @olivereast’s “Trek” has planted a seed…

Feel free to join me on Twitter and suggest your own!
