A quick reminder to those of you who haven’t already put it in your diary…

The first 50 copies of the book sold will come in a specially hand-printed envelope featuring this image:

All the original artwork and illustrations from the blog will be displayed and available to buy. I’ll also have a few copies of my comics there.

Here’s an American themed playlist to get you in the mood.

Hope to see you all there!

eagle awards 2008 – winner!

Posted in news, press by tom humberstone on May 14th, 2008

I’ve decided to take a break from comic conventions this year. The reasons are legion, but the main idea was to try and focus on getting various projects finished and be able to approach the cons next year with a wealth of new material I’m happy with – that hasn’t been rushed in order to meet a printing deadline.

This year’s Bristol International Comic Expo (as with other years) also plays host to the Eagle awards ceremony. It took place over the weekend. I was nominated but – due to never receiving an invitation to the awards, my self-imposed convention ban, and my own terrible memory for these things – I didn’t turn up.

Which was a silly thing to do in hindsight as I won the category I was nominated in! The wonderfully friendly and warm guys behind Tales From The Flat picked up the award on my behalf.

How to Date a Girl in 10 Days (issue 2)
Favourite Black & White Comic – British

Sadly, Issue 2 is currently out of print but I’m going to get a new print-run ready as soon as I can.

Thank you to everyone who voted for me. It really means a lot and I shall have Issue 3 for you as soon as possible (the inevitable work/life balance delays – as always – withstanding).

sketchbook update

Posted in news, sketchbook by tom humberstone on May 12th, 2008

Here’s a few doodles from my sketchbooks. These aren’t works in progress and were drawn in a few minutes so kindly adjust your expectations…

The image below is a collection of photos of a book I produced during several Pen Club sessions (a weekly drawing event in New Cross that everyone is welcome to attend – email me for details). The book has a concertina design and folds out to reveal one long piece of paper…

Here’s a scanned image. Click here to see a larger, scrollable picture.
