new comic for sale online

Posted in news by tom humberstone on March 30th, 2007

The second part of How to Date a Girl in 10 Days is now available to buy directly from this website in the slightly improved shop section. If you don’t have a Paypal account and would like to send a cheque instead, send me an email.

If you’re in London, both Gosh! and Orbital Comics have the new issue and various back issues in stock. I’m in the process of getting my comics stocked in other stores throughout the UK but these are currently the best places to get hold of the new issue.

Thanks to everyone who came to the UK Web & Mini Comix Thing and made the event such a success. Will hopefully have some pictures from the day on here soon.

Some new comics unrelated to How to Date on the way soon…

UK web & mini comix thing 2007

Posted in news by tom humberstone on March 13th, 2007

The second issue of How to Date a Girl in 10 Days is at the printers and will be available this Saturday at the UK Web and Mini Comix Thing 2007. The first 50 issues come with special screen-printed envelopes, so get there early this year if you’d like one of those. There’ll be a huge number of other small press comic creators there (all of whom probably produce far more interesting work than my indulgent, amateur rubbish) and it always tends to be quite a fun day so come say hi and help feed and clothe me (…by buying my comics, not by actually helping me get dressed or eat – I’m not that useless… oh, who am I kidding?…).

The third - and concluding chapter - of How to Date a Girl… will be published towards the end of the year with parts of it serialised on this here website. But I’ll be taking a short break from the comic over the next couple of months so that I can focus on a few short stories I’ve been mulling over while trapped in my room drawing one of my bizarre facial expressions after another.

The UK Web & Mini Comix Thing starts at around 9am and finishes sometime around 5pm (I think…). It’s held at Queen Mary University in Mile End and there are usually big, obnoxious signs everywhere leading you to the event. For more info, follow the link below:

Hope to see some of you there.

Before I go and stare vacantly at my drawingboard for a few hours, I’d just like to offer a big, warm, uncharacteristically friendly hug to everyone who came and showed some support last week at my exhibition and signing. Thank you for making both events a success.

private view (thursday 8th march)

Posted in news by tom humberstone on March 4th, 2007

I have a private view at Flaxon Ptootch gallery this Thursday (March 8th). I’ll have prints and original artwork on show, including some inked pages from the new issue of How to date a Girl in 10 Days. There’ll also be badges, t-shirts, and comics for sale…

Great music on the night from Knives, Left With Pictures, Beacons, Louise Golbey and Nik Void on the decks. Should hopefully have some animations and visuals during the performances too.

It’s free to get in and there’ll be a limited amount of free alcohol too.

As soon as the bands start, the lights will dim and it’ll be tough to see the artwork, so if you plan to have a look, it’s worth getting there as early as possible (opens at 8pm).

Three days later (March 11th), I’ll be doing a signing at Orbital Comics alongside fellow small-press creators Tom Brass, Lindsay Pollack and Chris Getliffe. The signing only lasts for two hours (3pm – 5pm) but the shop will stay open should the demand be there (I just laughed out loud typing the last sentence). I doubt it’ll be very busy but I’m looking forward to playing music through the shop and forcing my poor musical taste upon the unsuspecting public. Come along and demand a sketch or two. It’ll be fun… or possibly soul-destroying.

In other news, I have just finished issue 2 of How to Date a Girl. Yes. Be excited. Going to print at the end of the week…

Here’s the last page being inked…
